A Living Room Transformation

It’s September, which means, fall is here! (don’t rain on my parade, summer lovers…)

We recently made a huge update to our living room and threw out our old sofa and purchased this beautiful white one!

I love this size and style of this sofa but what I really love about it… IT’S SLIPCOVERED! After years of spot treating and shampooing our old sofa, it’s so nice to know I can throw these covers in the wash and they’ll be good as new.

Our living room has transformed so much in the 10 years we’ve lived in our home. When we toured the home, the living room had periwinkle blue walls and a fireplace that never made it out of the 80s! Cheap laminate flooring covered the floors and all we could see in our gullible eyes was the potential!

At the time, I was still trying to figure out my style but I loved a colorful farmhouse look so I went to work drenching Wythe Blue by BM all over our living and dining room.

I also painted the fireplace and surround to freshen it up.

After years of living with robin’s egg blue, I realized it was very hard to color coordinate with such a specific color and decided to paint our walls an antique white (shoji white SW). We also added some interest to the room with a bead board wainscoting. Pegs were added to the left of the window, because our guests always enter our home through the door in our living room and we need a place to hang coats!

And now after 3 kids and 2 dogs, our old couch had taken a serious beating. It was time to put it on the curb (the thrift shop would not take it… I asked!😅)

I am so in love with the style of this sofa and I can’t wait to style it for the holidays! Next on the list to update: say bye bye to the old trunk coffee table and add a comfy ottoman for lounging!

Happy decorating!

Grace
